Curtis and I played MASH tonight with a bunch of friends. We created our future story off of the results. This is written as if we were telling as old folks...
Deba: Well, so Curtis and I were dating very happily right here in Provo. Things were going well and I honestly thought we were about to take the next step.
Curtis: After doing very well at BYU I applied to Harvard and was accepted. I decided that it was too good an opportunity to pass up and I invited Deba to come with me. She was too attached to Utah and couldn't bring herself to leave everything she has here. So I left.
Deba: Curtis' memory seems to have been damaged a bit from his crazy years. Curtis got accepted to Harvard and I could not be happier, well.... except for the upcoming pile of debt from attending such an expensive school. I was so excited! And I absolutely love the east coast!! Well, Curtis came to me two weeks before we were to be wed and move to Harvard. He told me that the vision for his new life just didn't include me. I was devastated.
Curtis: ...I had a full-ride... So I left, without her. But when I got to Harvard, I was also devastated. I could no longer pursue the plans that had previously been constructed around a life with Deba. So I changed my major, to music. With the change of direction I found new motivation. I graduated at the top of my class.
Deba: When Curtis broke off the wedding my life was shattered. I fell into a deep depression. My grades dropped and when I applied to my Deaf Studies program I did make it in. Without Curtis and sign language in my life, I just didn't know what to do. I eventually began to rise out of my depression and applied for SLCC... the only college that would accept me. I changed my major to culinary arts because I had always loved to cook.
Curtis: With my new music degree I ventured into the movie business. I quickly became the newest sensation on the silver screen and landed a big lead role with Keira Knightly. Working with Keira was really fulfilling both of us and we are eventually wed. Keira didn't want to wreck her body with having children so we adopted 7 amazing girls from Africa. Life was going great!!!
Deba: Well my life going great too! You see when I graduated from SLCC in culinary arts I quickly got a job as the master chef in a classy casino down in Vegas. I moved down there, made great money and bought myself a ritzy penthouse apartment in an extremely nice part of Vegas.
Curtis: Then my world was shattered! Brad Pitt left Angelina Jolie (whole different story entirely) and stole Keira away from me. Unfortunately, I failed to sign a prenuptial agreement and Keira took everything I had achieved back east, except for the 7 girls, which she didn't even help care for. I needed to leave my life back east and move to Boise and have my grandparents help me care for my children. I crawled back to my dad and we worked together again building our investment business.
Deba: My job was so great as a chef that I decided I would do a couple things for fun. Well, mostly just get back into sign language. I dedicated so much time to it back in college that I figured it would be a waste to not do anything with it. I began interpreting during the day and working as a chef at night.
Curtis: My dad and I were getting very successful and expanding our business down to Vegas. We decided to do seminars down there and we needed to hire an ASL interpreter for our clients. Little did I know that the interpreter that would be assigned to our seminar was my old fiancee...
Deba: I got hired to interpret for a seminar... not a surprise, I was kind of a big deal as an ASL interpreter down in Vegas. I was surprised though when I interpreted for my ex-fiance. Immediately after I finished interpreting I began to rush out of the conference center...
Curtis: SEE!!!! She was running from me!! I ran after her and caught her in the parking lot. It was really hard to get her to listen to me but I apologized profusely! She wouldn't listen...
Deba: Curtis began to chase me. I could have easily outrun him, but I decided I might as well get the talk over with. He began to apologize. Really... really... really... the boy broke off our wedding and moved to the east coast... forgiveness was not going to be easy.
Curtis: But I am that good. Yay! It took a very long time, but she was worth it. So I chased her for a while and she finally decided that she would stop being dumb and come back to me (I let her think I was in the wrong).
Deba: Well, Curtis finally earned back my forgiveness and love. I decided I wanted to marry him and we wed. Seeing as my place was a lot nicer, he moved in with me... and brought his 7 daughters. They pretty much loved me so much. I quickly became the favorite parent. I loved being a mother so much that I decided Curtis and I should have a couple of our own. I had a few good birthing years left in me. We had 3 more daughters and 2 sons.
Curtis: Life was good, but there was still something missing... we went to the local circus and adopted an elephant named Rocky and an ostrich named Pooky.
Both: and we lived happily ever after. :)
Hopefully our lives will be a little less dramatic than the MASH game predicted, but any way it works out, it will be wonderful. We are so happy!!!!

The Debate: Freshman Verses Junior
School started for me on Monday. I have already had a couple hours of homework.
School started for Curtis last week. He just barely started getting homework.
The debate? Which is better:
Being a Junior and only having 40 credits or so left in your degree, but dying with homework from taking all 3000 and 4000 level classes.
OR
Being a Freshman with still many, many credits to go, but less homework and easier classes, and therefore more free time.
Honestly, I really like my major and Curtis's accounting, economics and math classes seem a lot harder than my Deaf studies classes...
And I do have only 40 credits or so left, which is really nice. And, I know most my professors really well and therefore they tend to be more lenient with schedules.
The decision: My situation is better.
I am grateful to be where I am in school, but do miss the good 'ol days. Good luck to Curtis (your classes are a lot harder than I made them out to be in this post) and good luck to everyone who just started a new semester!
Although, a note to leave on... with the world ending on December 21 this year, according to the Mayans, you really don't need to get THAT good of grades because you probably won't graduate before doomsday happens ;)
Haha. Just kidding. Study hard, sleep lots, eat healthy, have fun with what time you have left!

A Friend to All
I guess I was on a blog famine and now I am back! Well, at least for tonight.
I just want to say that I am so blessed for a great family.
One story I forgot to mention on my Thanksgiving post...
My brother invited a homeless guy to Thanksgiving dinner. I guess he had made friends with him, talked to him several times, and brought him lunch every once in a while. He hangs out near my brother's work.
I am so grateful that my brother thought to invite him to Thanksgiving dinner. It was so much fun to get to know him and a great reminder to me about how blessed I really am.
Thank you so much, bro, for your loving kindness. I really appreciate your example.

The Boyfriend: Part 1 October
I have been dating a wonderful man for a couple months now and decided it was finally time to get around to blogging about him. I have always been so blessed to be surrounded by great men, and Curtis is definitely one of them.
Let's start at the beginning. Curtis and I are in the same church ward (congregation) and in the same apartment complex, so we were bound to meet each other at some point.
Curtis first talked to me. He complimented me at a party on a dessert I brought. Sadly, I didn't notice him because I was flirting with another guy at the time.
A couple weeks later we played ultimate frisbee together. We were on opposite teams. He noticed my running (haha ;) and I finally took notice as well and learned his name.
He asked me out on a date and I had to say no because I was busy.
He asked me out on a second date and I had to say no because I was busy.
According to him, he probably wouldn't have asked me out again because I already said no twice. Luckily, I decided to ask him on a date. We went to a murder mystery dinner theater and had a great time.
Then, I went to Nevada for work. Honestly, I was still crushing on another guy at this point (I mean, we had only been on one date together).
I came back to find this on my dresser:
Men, the quick way to a women's heart (at least mine) is through flowers. Yeah, he won major points that day.
We went on another date. Don't worry, he asked me this time. We actually went to another murder mystery dinner. Murder, dressing up, dinner... life couldn't get much better ;) Oh, and that night he also found out I had my LDS mission papers almost completed.
The date was great. Although, I had a date with his roommate the next morning for breakfast ;)
A few days later he met one of my besties and wooed the heart of her and her husband.
The next day we went to an awesome Halloween party.
After the Halloween party we watched the Boogeyman with Cara and Andrew. What a great opportunity to hold hands for the first time ;)
That Tuesday we went on a date again... this time to Nickel City. Curtis became my "30 Ticket Prince."
We bought rubber frogs with the tickets we won. I said in the car that I wondered if the frog would turn into a prince if I kissed it. So I did. Curtis (who was driving) grabbed the frog out of my hand and threw it in the back of the car, and said "ta-da!" I guess I got my prince ;)
That Wednesday, Curtis made dinner for me and then we danced. That night we had our first kiss while dancing.
On Friday we officially became boyfriend and girlfriend.
The next weekend we had another murder mystery dinner :)
Well, the dates of the dates during October may have gotten a bit mixed up in my mind, but hopefully I got them pretty close to accurate.
Regardless, it was a wonderful month and a great start to an awesome relationship.
I will tell a little more about him and us in Part 2.
Thanksgiving Pictures
I had a great Thanksgiving week. I am so grateful for my family and friends :)
When you don't have plastic wrap, just use plastic bags :) |
A bunch of the yummy food! |
More of the yummy food. |
The best Thanksgiving dinners are those with plastic ware... less time cleaning up, more time playing! |
The devastation I left. |
My food baby following the big Thanksgiving meal :) |
My friend Ed who joined us for the meal. Thanks for coming, Ed ! |
Daryl and his sly self helping me decorate Curtis's bedroom. |
We put about 3000 tickets all over his room. |
Snuggling with my mom and brother :) The best! |
Our apartment Christmas tree! |
More Christmas decorations. |
Yay! For pictures up almost two months late... haha. I hope you enjoyed them :)
